Prepare first article inspection so that scope, timing and documentation match the required submission level.
- The submission level has been determined from the quality assurance requirements code, with level 3 meaning the customer attends on site.
- The date has been agreed with sufficient lead time, because the customer's calendar is the real bottleneck.
- Every drawing requirement is inspected, including notes and standard references.
- The sample is manufactured under production or near-production conditions.
- Measuring equipment, room and personnel are ready for the customer appointment.
- The document package is complete: certificates, reports with actual values, welding procedure specification and procedure qualification record.
- FAI release has been obtained in writing, because without it the release hold applies.
Reference values for guidance only, without warranty. Standard texts, manufacturer data and your own trials are binding.
