Before shipment, ensure that release, documentation, marking and preservation are all complete.
- A written FAI or series release is on hand, otherwise an incoming goods hold at the customer is likely.
- The documentation package is complete: assigned certificates and inspection reports stating the test equipment used.
- Marking is complete for every delivery item, including the change index.
- Approved concessions are enclosed with the delivery in copy.
- Preservation and packaging match the contract, with separating layers, corrosion protection and edge protection.
- Proof of origin, or the long-term supplier's declaration, is enclosed, otherwise an invoice hold is likely.
- Where there is a foreign link, the export control checklist has been worked through.
- On orders subject to government quality assurance, the release endorsement is on hand.
