For whom
Works managers, quality assurance managers and Geschäftsführer (managing directors) in metalworking companies (machining, forming, steel construction) who want to build up or review the operational organisation of calibration control – not the operation of individual measuring instruments at the workplace. No prior knowledge of metrology required, but responsibility for organisation rather than for measurement itself.
What you will be able to do afterwards
- systematically record an inspection equipment inventory and build up an inspection equipment register with the necessary master data, or evaluate an existing one
- establish calibration intervals for the first time, monitor them on an ongoing basis and adjust them appropriately on the basis of operational experience
- distinguish between a calibration certificate and statutory verification (Eichung) in conceptual and legal terms, and identify when each procedure applies
- name the basic requirements of DIN EN ISO 10012 for a measurement management system and distinguish them from ISO 9001, Section 7.1.5
- handle decommissioned, damaged or failed inspection equipment in a controlled manner and select an external calibration service provider appropriately
How the course works
Seven lessons with approximately 105 minutes of reading time, completable in any number of sessions: from the inspection equipment register through calibration intervals and DIN EN ISO 10012 to documentation obligations and the selection of a calibration service provider. A self-test at the end to conclude: 14 questions, for self-assessment, repeatable any number of times. Upon completion, a certificate of participation is available as a PDF.
What the course is not
No training in the operation of individual measuring instruments – the separate Messmittel-Werker-Check covers that. No measurement uncertainty calculation, no statistical process capability (Cmk/Cgk) and no sector-specific additional requirements such as IATF 16949 or AQAP. No accredited calibration and no ISO 9001 auditor qualification, no operational procedure instruction.
